THE PRESIDENTIAL INITIATIVE FOR SKILLING THE YOUTH PROGRAMME - BUSIA MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
The presidential initiative on the skilling the girl/boy child project ensures that the needy acquire skilling courses like hairdressing, Building & Construction, tailoring & Design, Weaving & knitting, Carpentry & Joinery, shoe making, bakery and confectionery, Welding & metal fabrication, Automotive Mechanics, Electrical engineering, Plumbing.
The goal is to ensure that needy youth enroll to benefit from the presidential initiative program at kibuku industrial Hub so that they can graduate at the end of the 6months skilling to be self-employed. Busia Municipal council has enrolled one hundred and four (104) youths since 2003 to date and the graduates formed Busia Municipality Presidential Industrial Hub Co-Operative to which His Excellency the President Yoweri Museveni disbursed a total of Shs 50 million (Uganda Shillings) intended to support the graduates of the hubs to start up small enterprises after completing their six-month skills training.
The Resident District Commissioner for Busia District Madam Hajira Namagongwe visited and encouraged the trainees to make the most of the opportunity and to use the skills they would acquire to create a livelihood in the job market, emphasizing the importance of skills for those struggling with a shortage of things to sell.
