Rabies Control Awareness Meeting for Leaders and School Outreaches in Busia Municipal Council

Background

Rabies is a deadly viral disease that affects both humans and animals, leading to significant economic and social impacts on communities. In Uganda, rabies remains endemic, with Busia Municipal Council reporting several cases in recent years. To address this pressing public health concern, the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Busia Municipal Council, organized a rabies control awareness meeting for local leaders.

 

Objectives

The primary objectives of this initiative were to:

 

1. Sensitize leaders and pupils on the importance of rabies control and prevention.

2. Enhance awareness about rabies transmission, symptoms, and prevention measures.

3. Encourage leaders to support and actively participate in rabies control initiatives.

4. Foster collaboration between stakeholders to eliminate rabies in Busia Municipal Council.
