Human Capital Development Programme-aims to increase productivity of the population for increased competitiveness and better quality of life for all
Sustainable Urbanisation and Housing is one of the 20 programmes of the NDPIII and operationalises objective three of the plan which is to consolidate and increase the stock and quality of productive infrastructure. The programme seeks to address key challenges in urbanisation and housing
The programme seeks to address key challenges which include:
- Jobless urban growth.
- Inadequacies in physical planning and plan implementation leading to a sprawl of unplanned settlements including in risk-prone areas.
- A deficiency in quantity and/or quality of social services, public infrastructure and housing.
- A skewed national urban system.
- Vulnerability due to climate change.
Therefore, the objectives of the programme were to:
- Increase access and utilisation of electricity
- Increase generation capacity of electricity.
- Increase adoption and use of clean energy.
- Promote utilisation of energy-efficient practices and technologies.
